Transformations : Maths

In our class we have finished learning about translations. Here is a mind map about what I have learnt.

Internets Forum

TASK:
What is an internet forum?
It is a group discussion site where people can talk about a certain topic.

Have you ever posted on a forum? Explain.
Yes I have posted on a forum. I had to post on a forum about how do I do something or how something went wrong. I mostly use this when I am using minecraft because multiple survival servers have grieving (People destroying or wrecking objects) and people have to report it to the moderators on a forum to fix something up.

What is a thread?
A thread is when you are talking or making decisions to each other on a forum or on any site like youtube.

What is the forum administrator’s job?
To check if there's appropriate language and if it is a suitable topic. They also have to check if people are spamming or annoying people in the thread. They also need to solve the problems or block people from their thread or entire forum. They alos need to promote or remove members from the form as well as to run the forum.

What are some different names for forums?
Meetings, debate, discussion, conference.

Find a forum on and provide a link for:

Minecraft : http://www.minecraftforum.net/
Rugby : http://www.therugbyforum.com/
a topic you are interested in
Technology : http://www.tech-forums.net/forums/

What do you think the rules for posting on a forum are?
Must be appropriate and relevant to the subject, no spamming or annoying other members of the thread. Don't budge into people lives and stick to the subject.

What do you think the consequences are for breaking the forum rules?
Get removed from the forum and have no more requests to join the forum.

TASK 2:
- Go to our class forum. Register using your school email.
-Post a response to the thread topic and vote on the poll.

-Read the posts of 3 others and reply to their posts.

Transformations : Enlargement

What 2 things do you always need to say to describe an enlargement?
The centre of enlargement and how many times the object has been enlarged.
What does centre of enlargement mean?
The centre of enlargement is a dot or a cross where the object expands from.
What is a scale factor?
The scale factor says how many times the object has been expanded or shrank.
Explain how to work out the scale factor on a grid, and with no grid. Use diagrams you have screenshot from the myimaths lesson.
For the ones on the grid you count one of the sides of the shape. Now if your scale factor is 2 you will double the squares and if the scale factor was three you will triple the sqaures and so on and so on.

For the ones with no grid you use a mirror to measure from one edge to the centre of enlargement and then you double triple or minus the amount of the scale factor same as the one with he grid.
What happens to the angle sizes in the corner of the shape when you enlarge it?
The angles stay the same because it makes no difference if you enlarge it. Also if you were to enlarge a triangle the angle still needs to add up to 180.
